Language matters: Introducing Dictionary
Meet the new pronunciation dictionary of the English language.
Dictionary is an online pronunciation dictionary of the English language. It features over 18,000 words and phrases including proper names, scientific and technical terms, and many inflected forms.
The pronunciation is given in broad phonemic transcription using IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), e.g. /ˈteɪbəl/ for table and /ˈnjuːtən/ for Newton.
