FHIR R5 is now fully released

The fifth major release of the FHIR standard is here.

The fifth major version of the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specification, FHIR R5, has been officially released as of March 27, 2023.

FHIR R5 brings new resources including Citation, EvidenceReport,GenomicStudy, Ingredient, NutritionProduct, Permission, and Transport and extends existing resources with new properties and data types. The new resources have been added to the FHIR specification to cover a wide range of healthcare-related areas, including genetics, nutrition, and transportation.

The FHIR specification has been developed by Health Level Seven, International (HL7) and the FHIR community. This latest release of the FHIR specification is a culmination of many months of work by the standard contributors.

The FHIR specification has become a critical standard for healthcare interoperability worldwide. It provides a common language for healthcare information exchange, which makes it easier for healthcare professionals to share information and collaborate on patient care.
